As many as 1,024 cases have been registered in connection with the protests going on in different parts of the Rayalaseema and Andhra region.
According to Additional DGP (Law & Order) VSK Kaumudi, the State Police was acting tough to contain violence during the protests. He informed that as many as 221 protestors have been arrested while over 1,000 people were taken into preventive custody. He said that over 39 cases have been booked for damaging the statues of the national leaders and 94 persons had been arrested.
Kaumudi said that the District SPs have been asked to take stern action against those taking law into the hands. He said there was no harm in holding protest after taking necessary permission. However, he said no act of violence would be tolerated by the State police.
