Rahul Dravid: Jr. India Coach
Jr.india under19 cricket team’s couching responsibilities moves into Indian former skipper Mr. Dependable Rahul Dravid. Rahul Dravid appointed as Jr.india couch after the BCCI’s High-profile advisory committee first meeting. Cricket god Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Lakshman also attended to this meeting.
“The good news is that Rahul Dravid has agreed to coach of India –‘A’ and under-19 teams in future” BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur said. The 42-year-old Dravid, a veteran of 164 tests with 13,288 Runs and in 344 ODI’s with 10,889 runs had been sounded out for the national coach’s job.
The newly constituted committee comprising retired greats Sachin Tendulker, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman met for the first time to discuss about the future of Indian Cricket and also present with BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya.
Thakur said three legends suggested greater overseas exposure for the India A team and offered their services for any Indian team whenever required. All three of them agree that if need be, Sourav, Sachin, Laxman can spend sometimes to help the cricketers. But they don’t want to interfere in any specific roles- Thakur said.
However, Dravid was keen to take-up the responsibility of shaping up the next generation of Indian cricket team. He is likely to tour with India Team also. Rahul took up a commentary role after retirement and is presently working with the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals as mentor.
